Earth-to-Table: Quarry Hill Orchards
This mid-summer gathering is the perfect celebration of our friends and neighbors as we invite the Gammie family- Bill, Jacque, Ben and Brooke of Quarry Hill Orchards to share their harvest, and their story, with ours. The lessons of the family farm are many, and we welcome their perspectives on their generational transition and rooted history.
Our Earth to Table series take on a slightly different look and feel from the other events on our calendar. While everything we prepare here is truly micro-seasonal, this series focuses on the abundance of riches at a moment in time, with the focus on the ingredients and a sense of immediacy that brings genuine meaning to the phrase earth to table.
Served family style, the platters will brim with peaches, nectarines, brambles, early pears, and summer apples- all picked straight from the Orchards, still warm from the sun. Side by side on the menu will be the tomatoes, squash, beans - potentially the expression of the entirety of the 800 varieties of vegetables from the soil of The Chef’s Garden - full summer and early fall converging at the most bountiful time on the farm.
CVI Chef Jamie Simpson will prepare a multi-course dinner that pairs his creative vision with ingredients that have all travelled distances that we suppose could be measured in acres rather than miles. Tables will be set outdoors, and dressed by first generation flower farmer Adrianne Gammie (Ben’s sister), with flowers grown from seed on the Quarry Hill grounds.
Doors open at 6:30 pm for cocktails, Dinner begins at 7 pm.
$90 per person, plus tax and service charge.
In addition, a full bar will be available featuring specialty cocktails, craft beers adn a suggested wine tasting offered to pair with the menu.
