This summer, our Uncorked series will take us to the Veneto- one of Italy’s largest wine producing regions, sweeping through from the Adriatic coast and Venice, up to the Alpine foothills and as far west as the shores of Lake Garda. We have all experienced the wines from this region—the delightful bubbles of Prosecco, lively and crisp Pinot Grigio, lovely Soave, and Valpolicella of all sorts of styles. The wines range from light and bright, to the intensity of Amarone- one of the biggest blockbusters on any fine dining red wine list. While we know these names, do we really know how to ferret out the truly outstanding wines from this prolific region?

Now you will! Learn about the information that is on the label such as classico, superiore, ripasso, recioto, amarone and passito and what it tells us about the vines, winemaking and wines. Discover  indigenous grapes that are less well known than their popular counterparts, but represent the heritage and character of the appellation. More importantly, taste the most expertly crafted examples of the region that celebrate the diverse and most sought-after wines of the Italian Veneto.

Typically we think of wine paired with the protein on the plate, but this series is designed to think about the flavors and complexities of vegetables and their preparation as the driver of the dish. The result is surprising flavor combinations that will open your palate to a whole world of possibilities. Proteins will be included in some courses; please indicate at the time of your reservation if you prefer a vegetarian menu.

And meet Claudio Salvador, native of Veneto and founder of Specialty Wine Company, importer of fine Italian wines that represent the best of the denominations. He will introduce his homeland through the liquids in the glass, while telling stories of the wineries and their fascinating history.

Claudio grew up in a small country town 25 miles north of Venice where his grandparents owned 70 acres of vineyards. He received degrees in fermentation sciences and chemistry before started working for Italy's largest privately owned wineries and vineyards. For 32 years Claudio has been a winemaker, developing acres of vines, pruning, spraying and harvesting. When he purchased Firelands Winery several years ago he embarked on a quest to bring premium Italian wines to the United States, and as a result Specialty Wine Company was founded. Claudio hand selects every wine that is imported and only brings in wines from producers that are passionate and committed to producing world class wines. Every bottle Claudio imports is truly a work of art.

Dress Code: The dress code is casual at all of our events unless otherwise noted; we dress as if we are entertaining friends in our home.
Please note that the drive and parking lot are unpaved so may be dusty in dry weather or muddy in inclement weather.

Doors open at 6:30 pm for cocktails. Presentation at 7:00 pm.

$120 per person, plus tax and service charge. Price includes 6-course dinner with 8 wine tastings.

Full bar will be available for purchase. All wines available for retail sale this evening.

Cancellation Policy: Payment information is taken at the time of reservation. Due to our size and the unique nature of each of our events, cancellations affect us greatly. We must receive notice of cancellation no less than 48 hours prior to the event for credit of your payment.
